what size fountain?

The recommended size of fountain depends on:

  • How you intend to use the fountain.
  • How many people will be at the wedding.
  • If the wedding is at home or at a venue.

As already outlined, there are lots of ways to use a fountain at a wedding, if you are offering the fountain as the only dessert you will use up a lot more chocolate than if you also plan to have other desserts. As a rough guide we recommend using a Party Size fountain for weddings with up to 100 guests. If you are planning to only use the fountain with pre-dinner drinks this size fountain will be fine for up to 150 guests. However, if the fountain is to be the main focus of your desserts we'd recommend a Standard Size fountain for this number of guests.

Some people decide they will make do with a small, home-use fountain for their wedding regardless of the number of guests. If your celebrations are being held at home and you are happy to regularly melt more chocolate to top up the fountain that's great - go for it. But if you are at a venue they are unlikely to allow you access to the kitchen to melt chocolate (especially with regard to health and safety) and they'll be far too busy to do the melting for you. Other things to bear in mind are that a home-use fountain is really only meant for groups of up to 20 and it will certainly not offer the real 'wow' factor offered by the size of the larger (hire) fountains. Visit our fountain information page to compare sizes. Don't leave your guests feeling short-changed!

will a fountain be messy?

While flowing liquid chocolate has all the potential to be messy we've lots of options available to make sure it won't be.

We can provide:

Drip guards - available in a range of colours; designed to sit on the edge of the fountain to keep drips off the table. using a drip guard
Wind / sneeze guards - these sit right over the fountain to protect from breezes which could blow the chocolate and they limit the number of people who can dip at any one time. screen over fountain
Fully trained operators - if you are having your wedding at a venue you do need to hire one of our friendly and fully trained operators. They can dip for you or guests can still dip for themselves. fountain with operator
bride in chocolate free dress One thing to bear in mind - in 4 years of providing chocolate fountains for weddings we've never had a messy bride!

When it comes to weddings we have more experience than any other WA chocolate fountain company so please feel free to give us a call to discuss your options.
